Dems in Disarray: Unions, elections, MSNBC, rich leftists

Sharing the good news about unions, elections, MSNBC and Leftists. Then a bit of a downer with some bad news about conservatives in media. We close with a shocking story about roving bands of youths taking advantage of bad weather.

Remember Wisconsin? Scott Walker’s victory there over the unions meant that the public sector unions couldn’t force people to pay dues, people got to choose. Their choice is no. Surprisingly, when unions have to compete for members in the free market they kind of fail. We took some joy in that.

There’s also been dramatic failure of the Democrat Party in Louisiana, worthy of celebrating.

In the media world, super lefty “news” channel MSNBC is having some trouble attracting and retaining an audience, and they’re retooling. Which way will they go?

Did you hear about what Patricia Arquette said at the Oscars? Pretty basic boilerplate lefty garbage – super rich woman claims to be spokesperson for downtrodden women everywhere. Ho hum. Conservatives and most of America yawned. The left is having a MELTDOWN. Her statement was a “spectacular intersectionality fail”, whatever that is.

The left is eating its own, it’s sad and also hilarious to watch.

But then there’s our side. A group who KNOWS about culture, and fighting for conservatism in that arena, has chosen to spend their time and treasure on an effort that is seriously misguided. Just a very sad waste of precious resources. We do have to call out our own when they make mistakes – because we want them to do better.

We close with a truly terrifying story about a band of wild youths, and really bad weather, and shut ins, and no school, and crazy youth taking full advantage of the cover of darkness to do something unexpected.

Denial and Dishonesty in Foreign Affairs, Legislation Fights, and Candidacies

Dishonesty ended up being the running theme through this week’s podcast. The denial side of it is dangerously evident in the speeches we get from the State Department – Marie Harf saying that #Jobs4Jihadis would fix things better than just killing them all. Then there’s the political-spin type of dishonesty in the debate about the DHS funding bill. Then the money-grubbing cronyism dishonesty in the FDAs decades-long deception about cholesteral. Finally, the pernicious elitist dishonesty evident in all of the scorn and derision being heaped on Scott Walker for…gasp!…not having a college diploma.

It sounds very depressing, and it kind of is, but there’s a span there where all of your hosts lose it and giggle like the 12 year olds we really are.

The Refinery Redux 7/14/14

This post was originally published at Free Radical Network but that site is experiencing some technical difficulties, so is crossposted here.

The RefineryHappy Monday everyone, it’s The Refinery clip time again!

What is The Refinery?  Well,The Refinery is a weekly, open meeting where some of the FRN crew sits down with members of  The Party Of Choiceand theConservative Union to discuss how we can improve the Conservative messaging!

This week, FRN’s ownGeorge Templeton pinch-hits forThe Party Of Choice‘s Cori and Andy Peth as we look for ways to keep people focused on obtainable goals, discuss solutions to the border crisis, and address the current Impeachment cries emanating from parts of the conservative movement.

But why read more words from me about what went on, when you can see it for yourself?

Let’s kick things off at the beginning:  I launch headfirst into the impeachment debate… with an anecdote about the Reform Party; thenLeslie andFishie get into the REAL reasons why so many in our movement have latched onto the Impeachment wagon.

This clip features George Templeton firing on all cylinders as he takes us back to the last time we tried to impeach a president- and laments that we ever tried the botched effort.  This little history lesson also to helped inspire George to write anAWESOME article that you NEED to read as soon as you’re done watching these clips! (Click the link now, it’ll stay warm for ya in a new tab!)

The Conservative Union’s Ryan Bickmore starts this clip off with a question on how we can get our guys to pay attention to the current political realities- realities that Fishie and Leslie remind us are NOT trending towards Impeachment.

Okay, I promised there would be talk about the border crisis, so here it is!  Leslie reiterates George’s plan for the Republican Governors of the border states to use the 10th amendment to put pressure on the Federal Government and the Obama administration, while simultaneously greatly improving the GOP’s image.

In our final clip,  George gives us a brief assessment of Scott Walker as a presidential candidate. While doing so, he states a need for the GOP to have it’s own transformational candidate to “transform the country back the way it’s to be.”

Fishie and I then respond that instead of trying to harken back to the good-old-days, we should instead try to message that we’re going to find some NEW good days.

Last, but not least, here’s the full conversation.  I had a blast as always, and I think you will too! (Particularly if you join us LIVE in our chatroomTuesday night at 9:30pm eastern!)

Hope to see you there!
