It started as a way to remember the Armistice, a day dedicated to the cause of world peace. Because that war did not, sadly, end all wars, November 11 is now a day for us to honor ALL those who served – living and dead – but especially to give thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.
— John Fitzgerald Kennedy
And from the days even before there was such a thing as Veteran’s Day…
Honor to the solider, and sailor everywhere, who bravely bears his county’s cause. Honor to him … who braves for the common good the storms of Heaven and the storms of battle.
— Abraham Lincoln
Politics IS a part of Life
I hear people say they “step away” from politics for a time to refocus on real life or their family, and it makes them happier. I completely understand that. And I also see that as a problem. I believe that convincing people to “separate from” the world of politics allows evil men to do their will. We have to find a way to remain engaged in the world of politics AND be happy AND be doing the best to take care of our families.
